Leonard "Mick" James Omen

Leonard "Mick" James Omen, age 82, of Randolph died on May 17, 2014 at the Golden Living Center- Continental Manor of Randolph.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the First Reformed Church, 406 S. High Street, Randolph. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.

Mick’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5 – 8 P.M. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the church and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

Mick was born on January 4, 1932 in Randolph, a son of Frank and Frances (Quigley) Omen. He was a lifelong Randolph resident who graduated from Randolph High School in 1950. On October 25, 1952, he was united in marriage to Arlys Roberts. Mick worked for several local companies in the wood industry including Rockwell, Fox Lake Correctional Institute, and Service Industries of Iron Ridge. At the Monarch Range Company in Beaver Dam, he was the personnel director. At the Private Industry Council in Portage, he worked as a job developer. In Portage, Mick worked in sales for Northwoods Company, retiring in July of 1997. Mick was very active in the community over the years. He served on the Randolph School Board, was a volunteer for the Randolph Fire Department and Randolph EMS. He also served as Dodge County Deputy Sheriff, Dodge County Deputy Coroner and on Dodge County Civil Defense. Mick served on several committees and on the Randolph Village Board. Mick enjoyed working with the youth as a Randolph Little League coach; he managed Randolph’s Rock River League men’s baseball team, and also coached men’s and women’s softball teams and was an umpire for local baseball leagues. He also refereed football and basketball. He enjoyed hunting at Shinin’ Times Hunting Cabin and was a member of the Snowdon Hunting Club. He was a huge fan of all Wisconsin sports and a faithful supporter of all Randolph High School activities. Mick made many happy memories with his family, enjoying bowling, traveling, road trips, and family vacations. Mick loved outdoor activities: hunting, camping, grilling, and entertaining friends. Keeping his lawn and landscaping immaculate was one of his favorite past times. He was a faithful and active member of the Randolph United Methodist Church.

Mick is survived by Arlys, his wife of 61 years, his son, Tim and his wife Harriet Omen, his daughter, Lisa Omen, four granddaughters: Erin Omen, Chelsey Omen, Brittany Omen, and Allie Omen, all of Randolph; his brother, John (Marian), Omen, Beaver Dam, brothers and sisters-in-law: Hugh (Jane) Roberts, Joan Roberts, Audry Roberts, Joanne Gilbertson, Muriel Jovle, Mary (Arnie) Tillema, Dana (Judy) Roberts, Cindy (Al) Nehring, Deb (Jim) Syens, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Franklin Omen and his wife Phyllis, brothers-in-law: Maurice and Earl Roberts, Rodney Gilbertson, and Hector Jovle, a niece, Debbie Omen, and a nephew, Greg Griffith.

Memorials may be directed to Randolph United Methodist Church, Randolph High School, and Randolph Fire and EMS Department.
