Alice Marie Tonn, age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam.
She was born on April 18, 1929, in Beaver Dam Hospital, Wisconsin, daughter of Herman and Gertrude (Hollnagel) North.
Alice graduated from Cambria High School in the class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Raymond Tonn on April 18, 1948. Throughout her life, she found joy in creativity, weaving beautiful rag rugs that she sold at flea markets and craft fairs. Her love for sewing extended to making teddy bears for her grandchildren, a testament to her caring nature. She also enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, and quilting, filling her home with warmth and artistic expression.
Alice was deeply involved in her community. She owned and operated the Youth Community Center in downtown Randolph, providing a welcoming space for local kids to play games and enjoy small sandwiches. Her generous spirit was evident in her years of volunteer work at the Markesan Resident Home, where she offered her time and companionship to residents. Alice was part of the Markesan Homemakers Club, where she fostered connections with fellow members who shared her interests in homemaking and community service. She was a member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Alice is survived by her children, Blake N. (Linda) Tonn, Stanley R. Tonn, Daryl J. (Cynthia) Tonn, Julia M. (Ronald) Weinberger, Mark R. (Lori) Tonn and Raymond R. Tonn (Renee); nineteen grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren further survived by two brothers, Herman L. North Jr. and Harold E. (Judy) North Sr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter-in-law, Lori Tonn and sister-in-law, Donna North.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church 335 Jones Drive, Randolph, WI 53956.
Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday with Pastor Anthony Straseske officiating. Burial will take place at Cambria Cemetery.
