Barbara "Barb" Mills

Barbara Emily Mills, age 95, of Markesan passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Barb was born on April 29, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of Gunnard and Thyra (Melberg) Pearson. She graduated from Foreman High School in Chicago, class of 1948. Barb was united in marriage to Thomas Mills on April 23, 1949, at Nebo Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois. She was a dedicated homemaker, taking care of her family and contributing to the family business, "Undertakers Gloves and Supply." Her life was a testament to her loving spirit and unwavering commitment to family, friends, and community.

Known for her caring and loving nature, she was always willing to volunteer wherever help was needed. Her commitment to service was evident through her many contributions over the years. While living in Illinois, she volunteered at the Bensenville Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, and the Society Shop, a local resale store. She was actively involved in the Parent-Teacher Association at the local school and participated in various clubs in the area.

Barb was a proud member of the Girls Athletic Association and the Immanuel United Church of Christ, remaining active in church activities throughout her life. Family vacations to the cottage on Big Green Lake were cherished memories for her and her family. They later purchased the cottage and then a farm in Markesan, where Barb and her husband, Thomas, made their home.

Her passion for volunteering continued in her new community. She lent a helping hand at the Green Lake Animal Shelter and the Princeton Garden Club. She was a member of the HCE - Wisconsin Association for Home and Community Education and the Federated Church of Green Lake. Barb's love for bowling was evidenced by the fact that she participated in a bowling league well into her eighties.

Barb is survived by her six children, Mike (the Late Pat) Mills, Pam (Scott) Reid, Debbie Mills, Lisa (Bill) Leahy, Tom Mills II and Dan (Antonella) Mills; nine grandchildren, Rachael (Jamie), Thomas, Scott (Crimson), Tom (Ruth), Alex, Jack (Blaire), Daniel, Michael and Tatiana; three great grandchildren, William, Elizabeth and Clark; further survived by family in Sweden, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom in 2023, and her parents.
