Green Lake

Benjamin Harry Olmstead, age 93, of Green Lake and Pompano Beach, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Markesan Resident Home.

Benjamin was born on May 8, 1933, son of Benjamin and Elma (Feuerstein) Olmstead. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Girrens on February 4, 1956.

Ben loved Green Lake as he built the first home in Beyers Cove in 1959. He taught his wife, his daughter Jennifer, and all the nieces who came to the lake how to waterski. During the winter you could always find Ben and the family on snowmobiles riding the trails to various locations in the county and to the Northwoods.

In later years, you would see Ben sitting on the screened-in porch watching all the ski boats, fishing boats, and sailboats go by while enjoying the fresh Green Lake air.

Ben is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rosemary Olmstead, his daughter, Jennifer Olmstead; and his niece, Anita DeGumbia. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia (Ron) Fogarett.

Arrangements are pending with burial to be in Schulte, Kansas.

A celebration of life will be held in Wisconsin sometime in the future.
