Darrell David Gildemeister, age 69 of Waupun, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Darrell was born on December 2, 1956, in Port Washington, Wisconsin, son of August and Arlene (Miller) Gildemeister. He was united in marriage to Annette Galler in 1977. Darrell dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Amsted Automotive Burgess-Norton Manufacturing Company. Known as a simple man, he had a remarkable ability to find joy in life and share a good laugh with those around him. He was never short of words, always ready with something smart to say just when you thought you had heard it all. His generous spirit led him to be there for anyone in need, whether it was offering help with a mechanical problem or sharing his last dollar.
Hunting and fishing were among Darrell's favorite pastimes, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he cherished spending time with them, often teaching them how to fix cars, passing on his skills and knowledge.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Annette Gildemeister; his two sons, David (fiancé Heather) Gildemeister and Darick (Moiria) Gildemeister; and his five grandchildren, Davion, Blake, Christine, Matthew, and Vincent with a great grandchild expected in August. He also leaves behind his siblings, Pete (Sandy) Gildemeister, Melvin (Terry) Gildemeister, and Dawn (Eddie) Machado, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will all miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Delroy Gildemeister. Darrell's kind heart and bright spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
