Duane Arthur "Oscar" Oosterhouse of Randolph passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the age of 71.
Oscar was born on July 23, 1954, son of Fredrick and Ruby (Van Ruiswijk) Oosterhouse. On October 7, 1988, he was united in marriage with Faye Biel. Oscar was known for his complete faith in God. He was a quiet leader who lived in a way that reflected his Christian faith in his daily life. His love, patience, confidence, humility, and contentment were unfailing. Everyone who knew Oscar was happy to spend time with him.
Oscar spent his career working as a truck driver, where he developed countless life-long friendships. In 2006 Oscar and Faye purchased Slinger Trucking, which they operated together for over 15 years. Oscar will be remembered for his dedication, hard work, dependability, and as a mentor to young drivers. Oscar was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an elder.
Oscar had a true passion for family. He cherished Saturday afternoons spent with his brothers, a tradition that developed out of shared interest for Minneapolis-Moline tractors and farming equipment they used with their dad growing up. For the past several years, Oscar enjoyed traveling around the country in his Peterbilt to bring home tractors, spending time at truck and tractor shows, and going on tractor rides with his brothers and friends. Oscar loved children and was blessed with two grandsons that thought he hung the moon. Thomas and Simon loved to spend time with their grandpa and never turned down the chance to go on a tractor ride, a truck ride, or just spend time together at home. Simple moments spent with family were what Oscar valued most, and his love for his family was evident in everything he did.
Oscar was a good listener, considerate when giving advice, and always gave glory to God. Advice from Oscar always included, “Pray about it.” He will be remembered for his love for good food, cooking, and time spent visiting around a good cup of coffee or a brandy old fashioned – sweet with olives.
Oscar is survived by his loving wife, Faye Oosterhouse; his daughter, Jackie (Kolby) McIntyre; two grandsons, Thomas Oscar and Simon Daniel, his brothers, Richard (Sharon) Oosterhouse, Kenneth, Ronald, and Keith Oosterhouse, Gordon (Kris) Oosterhouse, sister Sandra (Kyry) Tek, and his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
We would like to give special recognition and thanks to Dr. Brunner and the oncology team at UW-Hospital, the amazing nurses at Hillside Hospice care – especially Rita, Jessica, and Valerie, and the fantastic care team at Epic Care Solutions that supported Oscar and his family.
