Eleanor Josephine Manikowski

Eleanor Josephine Manikowski, age 92, of Markesan, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home.

Eleanor was born on March 1, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Nikolaus) Trick. On March 25, 1960, she was united in marriage to Raymond Manikowski in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Thirty years ago, Eleanor purchased a home in Markesan, initially intending it as a vacation getaway. However, it soon became her cherished permanent residence, where she created lasting memories. Eleanor was an avid traveler, exploring the world for 20 years. Her journeys took her to places like Germany, Japan, China, Hawaii, and Mexico. She had a passion for cruising and camping, often enjoying these experiences with her family.

In her spare time, Eleanor found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing cards with family and friends, gathering around the table for laughter and connection. Her love for puzzles also added a spark to her days, challenging her mind while providing entertainment.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Catherine Preston; grandchildren, Sarah (Bjorn) Sanderson, Jennifer Krauss, Kayla (Matthew) Longley and Krystal (John) Hartman; great grandchildren, Victoria Sanderson, Willow Sanderson, Ellie Longley, Ember Longley and Matthew Longley Jr.; and sister, Mary Bub. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Manikowski; son, Mark Duehning; son-in-law, Dean Preston; sister, Kathleen Brey; and brothers-in-law, Donald Bub and William Brey.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes, 13235 W Capitol Dr, Brookfield, WI 53005.

A prayer service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Sarah Boomgarden officiating.
