Evelyn Vander Galien

December 17, 1936 — October 18, 2024

Evelyn Vander Galien, age 87 of Friesland, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, October 18, 2024.

Evelyn was born on December 17, 1936, a daughter of Sam and Mary (Kuik) Katsma. On December 13, 1957, she was united in marriage to William Vander Galien in East Friesland. Evelyn and William worked side by side on their dairy and hog farm that they owned and operated until 2005, when they retired and moved to the village of Friesland. Evelyn was devoted to raising her children and maintaining the home for the family. She shared her love and hospitality to family and friends. Evelyn will be remembered for her love of baking, canning and shared the gift with others. She took great pride in doing alterations for others. She made beautiful quilts for many family members throughout the years. Evelyn volunteered at Bargains Galore in Waupun and looked forward to the mission trips with CRWRC and bus tours with family and friends. Evelyn was a lifetime member of First Randolph CRC and active in the Martha Circle. She has left a permanent mark on every life she touched and will remain in our hearts forever. Evelyn will be remembered for ending her visits and phone calls with, “bye for now”.

Evelyn is survived by her three children, LeRoy (Rochelle) Vander Galien of Deerfield, WI, Marcia (Jeff) Cupery of Friesland, WI and Nancy (Ivan) Brouwer of Caledonia, MI; four grandchildren, Ben (Stacy Garner) Cupery, Jessica (Kris Pauloski) Brouwer, Ethan (Chloe) Brouwer and Shawn (Sarah) Brouwer; twin great granddaughters, Maeve and Melanie; sister, Carol Moat of Oregon, WI and sister-in-law, Dorothy Blok of Oostburg; brother-in-law, Sebert Kooima of Sioux Falls; further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
