Harold S. De Vries, age 84, passed away on January 18, 2024, at the Larson House in Columbus, WI. with his family by his side. He was born March 1, 1939, at home on a farm outside of Randolph. He was the son of Henry and Susie (Burmania) De Vries.
Harold graduated in 1956 from Randolph High School. Following graduation, he worked at Rockwell where he met his wife, Fran Evers. They were united in marriage on December 2, 1961, and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Together they had 4 children, Marla (Greg) Wedel, Faye (Dan) Wells, Rhonda (Steve) Pfeffer, and Harlyn De Vries.
Harold worked at multiple jobs throughout the years. These included 38 years as manager of Du-al Gas hardware store and 35 years as bookkeeper at the Randolph Feed Mill. After retiring in 2003, Harold continued to work several part-time jobs. He was a custodian for the Randolph School District as well as an assistant for the Randolph Community Funeral Home.
As a lifetime member of the 2nd Christian Reformed Church, Harold was very involved serving in the positions of an elder, a deacon, a clerk, and a treasurer. He will be remembered for his love of nature, trains, his family, a friend to all, and his love for God above all.
Harold is survived by his wife, Frances, his 3 daughters and their spouses, 9 grandchildren Jennifer (Diego), Mitchell (Jessa), Kelsey (Scott), Heidi (Jake), Rachel, Adam, Annette (Derek), Julia (Isaac), and Kaylin. 7 great-grandsons Jahmari, Leo, Carter, Elias, Nolan, Cohen and Oliver. Two brothers-in-law, John (Jane) Evers, and Wayne Rahn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and their spouses, and his son Harlyn (1996).
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Generations Hospice and Alzheimer's research or memorial of your choice.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Second Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack Street, Randolph, WI 53956.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Second Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Keith Buist officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Cemetery.
