James John Engelke

December 24, 1946 — March 9, 2018

James Engelke, age 71 formerly of Markesan, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 9, 2018, at his home in Campbellsport.

James was born on December 24, 1946, a son of Herman and Hortense (Scherer) Engelke. In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. James drove concrete and dump truck for many years until his retirement in 2005. He was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and target practice with his pistol. James also enjoyed spending time with his family.

James is survived by three children, David Engelke (Jennifer Winchell) of Markesan and her children, Dasani and Diandra Lightbourne; Mark Engelke of Hartford and Jennifer Baugniet of Slinger; two grandchildren, Megan and Tyler Baugniet; two nieces, Kristin (Jeff) Williams and Heather Engelke; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Peter Engelke.

Visitation for James will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 North Margaret Street, Markesan.

A memorial service for James will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the funeral home.
