Julie Ann Powell

Julie Ann Powell, age 55, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Julie was born on August 11, 1970, in Waupun, Wisconsin, daughter of Robert and Gail (Ruenger) Powell. She graduated from Markesan High School, class of 1988. Family held a special place in Julie’s heart. She was once married to Jeff Wills, a wonderful man who played a significant role in raising her children and providing unwavering support throughout life’s journey. Their partnership was a pillar of strength, grounded in mutual respect and care.

Julie found joy and fulfillment in her work at Wayside in Markesan, where she was known not only for her diligence but also for the genuine warmth she extended to customers. She loved people deeply and never hesitated to offer support or a listening ear. Julie had a magnetic personality, the kind that brought laughter and light to those around her. She had a remarkable gift for humor, always ready with a funny remark that could lift the mood in any room. She found joy in cheering on her son at his wrestling matches for the Markesan Hornets. Her enthusiastic encouragement from the bleachers remains a treasured memory among friends and family.

Julie is survived by her son, Chase Powell and her daughter, Cassidy (Matt Kromm) Powell; her sister, Wendy (Craig) Kraabel, brother, Michael Powell and her parents; nieces, Kelssie Kraabel, Breanna Powell, Emily Powell and her nephew, Brian Kraabel; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Jennifer Powell and her cherished grandparents, Geraldine and Rolland Ruenger and Bernice and Louie Powell.

A Celebration of Julie’s life will be held from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Maquette Village Hall 127 E. 4th Street Marquette, WI 53947.

In honoring Julie’s wishes, family and friends are encouraged to wear the “Julie’s Journey Benefit Shirt, or Pink,” as a symbol of solidarity and support throughout her journey. This gesture stands as a testament to the strength and courage that defined her life.
