Karen "Kay" Anderson

Karen “Kay” Anderson (nee Siewert), age 84, passed away peacefully at her Randolph home on October 28, 2026.

Kay was born on September 30, 1942, the second of four children, to Herbert and Dorothy Siewert (nee Ebert). She graduated from Markesan High School in 1960. On December 2, 1966, Kay and Robert (Bob) Anderson were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Cambria.

Kay loved cooking for the family. The table overflowed as everyone got their favorite dish. No occasion was complete without her Special K bars. She enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables. Every year her red and white impatiens and begonias adorned the front of the house. You could always count on Kay to remember your birthday, anniversary or any special occasion with a carefully selected greeting card in perfect penmanship. She didn’t stop when her hands began to shake, just bought extra envelopes in case they weren’t neat enough on the first try. Her strong, hardworking spirit and loving heart will be dearly missed.

Kay is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bob; three children, Philip (Sam) Siewert, Debra (Steve) Dobbratz, and Tom (Kathy) Anderson; six grandchildren, Samantha (Austin) Hiemstra, Mitchell Siewert, Heath Siewert; Bailey Dobbratz, Taylor (Emily) Anderson, and Bryce (Aleah) Anderson; eight great grandchildren and her brother David Siewert.

Kay was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Siewert; sister, Janice Streekstra; and her parents Herb and Dorothy Siewert.

A private ceremony for the immediate family will be held.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the amazing SSM hospice nurses and staff for their compassionate care in her final days.
