Linda Lou Miles, age 77, of Markesan, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Linda was born on June 28, 1947, daughter of Edwin and Beatrice (Sell) Schaumburg. She was raised in the Oakfield area and graduated from Oakfield High School. Linda was united in marriage to Tom Miles on January 1, 1991. She worked at Grande Cheese Company for more than 30 years. Linda will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who put the needs of her family above everything else. To many she was known as “Grandma Linda.” She encouraged and supported her grandchildren in all that they undertook including sports, concerts, plays & musicals. She would show up, rain or shine, to any event that had children she cared about, whether they were family or not. Linda was a woman who created community wherever she went, with a magnetic personality that was enhanced by her good heart. She enjoyed having breakfast at Sandy's Diner and Wayside with family and friends. She loved going on road trips and camping with family. Every year she looked forward to watching the sturgeon registration at Wendt’s on the Lake followed by festivities with her grandson. She enjoyed watching horse pulls and supporting youth at the fair. She was always up for a spur of the moment shopping trip, or going out for lunch with her friends. If she ever had a minute to spare, she enjoyed birdwatching and gardening. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Linda is survived by her son Mike Madel; brothers, Charles (Denise) Schaumburg, and Phillip (Jill) Schaumburg; step children, David (Shari) Miles, Shareen Miles, Jodi (David) Kohn, Shawn (Jim) Sanders. Rick (Pam) Miles, Tori (John) Jenkins; grandchildren Kaila (Justin), Alex, Dakota, Eli; step grandchildren, Tracy (Chris), Mason, Thomas (Kris), Mike (Stacy), Jen (Josh), Billy, Hanna (Tyler), PJ. Alisha, Amber, JT (Abby); and 25 great-grandchildren and many others who called her Grandma.
