Lois Jane Vande Zande, age 94, of Randolph, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Randolph Health Services in Randolph, Wisconsin.
Lois was born on September 27, 1932, in the township of Randolph, the daughter of Tom and Josie (DeYoung) Tamminga. Lois lived a life marked by faith, music, hard work, and devotion to those around her. She was a graduate of Randolph High School, class of 1950. After graduation, she worked at Schalers in Waupun, Wisconsin.
On October 16, 1952, she was united in marriage to Howard Alsum at Friesland Reformed Church. Throughout her life, Lois shared her musical gifts generously. She served as a church organist, played for the men’s chorus, and also played for Trinity Reformed Church and Emmanuel Reformed Church in Waupun. She gave private piano lessons for many years and touched many lives through her love of music and teaching.
Later, Lois set aside her piano lessons to help her son in the produce business. She eventually retired in 1999. She and her husband were active in church youth groups, and she was also a member of the Dorcas Circle Church Group. Her faith remained an important part of her life and was reflected in her service to her church and community.
Lois also enjoyed traveling. She and Howard traveled to different parts of the United States and Canada. In 1981, her husband and son died in a plane crash, a tragedy that deeply shaped her life.
On December 31, 1987, she was united in marriage to Harvey Vande Zande. Together they also enjoyed traveling and loved spending the winter months in Florida. They were both members of the Rock River Country Club in Waupun.
