Merle Edwin Flood, age 91, of Waupun, formerly of Las Vegas, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Crossroads Care Center in Mayville, Wisconsin.
Merle was born on July 19, 1933, in Iowa, the son of Roy and Anna Flood. He spent many fulfilling years as a dedicated security guard at Caesars Palace and Luxor in Las Vegas. Merle’s role there brought him joy, and he truly cherished his life in the vibrant city. He was deeply devoted to his belief in God. This faith guided him throughout his life and was a cornerstone of his character. Family held a special place in Merle’s heart, and he loved them dearly.
Merle is survived by his children, Perry (Carol) Flood and Linda Holifield; grandchildren, Adam (Jessica) Flood and Johnny Bales; great grandchildren, Kyra Galowski, Colton Flood, Dailianne Flood, Harley (Tim Zeman) Bales and Jayden Bales; great great grandchildren, Ace Becker and Axl Becker; grandson-in-law, Jerry Galowski and sister-in-law, Betty Flood. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amber Galowski; son-in-law, Bill Holifield and brothers, James (Wanda) Flood, Dewayne (Peggy) Flood and Bruce Flood.
The family would like to thank SSM Health Crossroads Care Center and Generations Hospice for all their wonderful care.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Shilo Baptist Church, 7980 M Hwy, Rover, MO 65775, with memories and a balloon release. Military honors will be provided by the Missouri National Honor Guard Service.
