Michael Clarence Schreiber, 79, of Markesan, passed away into Jesus’ arms on January 13, 2022 after a brief illness.
Mike was born in Chicago, Illinois, to George and Mildred Halter Schreiber. He grew up in Chicago and moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota, where he met his wife, Mary Joan Vandenheuvel. He joined the Navy in 1959, was a radioman and served on USS Kearsarge, which recovered astronaut, Wally Schirra, Jr., after the Mercury Sigma-7 mission in 1963.

As a natural salesman, Mike owned his own business in pressure washer sales and repair with territory in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. After retiring, he and Mary moved to Markesan in 2012. He made other people feel like they mattered by showing interest in others and hearing their stories. Mike enjoyed fishing, joking around with family and friends, going for a drive, exploring antique shops, watching racing, playing the guitar, and generously helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gary Schreiber and Robert “Bob” Schreiber.
