Ronald “Ron” Huizenga, age 84, of Randolph, was called to his eternal home on Monday, September 16, 2024, following a heart attack at his home.
Ron was born September 8, 1940, son of Theodore and Martha (Alsum) Huizenga. He worked various jobs before serving in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965.
Ron married Katherine “Kay” Wierenga on May 9, 1970. For the majority of their life, they dairy farmed on the farm where he was born and raised. They raised 5 children. After trying retirement, he then worked for Hahn Commodities for 14 years. He finally fully retired and enjoyed the simple life of woodcutting and being on his farm.
Ron was a Christian man and lived a life of faith. He was a charter member and belonged to the Randolph Protestant Reformed Church.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Kay, and his children: Jennie (Dave) Braaksma, Randolph, WI, Wendy (Joe) Mancusi, Crete, IL, Carrie (Adam) Bosman, Dyer, IN, Tedd Huizenga, Orangeville, IL, and Robin Huizenga, New Port Richey, FL. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren: David, Hannah and Kimberly Braaksma, Ellen Mancusi, Mary (Jared) Huber, Bethany (Emmet) Langerak, Nathan, Jane, Mike, Claire, Bill, Doug and Brian Mancusi, Adelle, Neil and Laura Bosman, Samantha Huizenga, and Carly Huizenga. He is further survived by 3 great grandchildren: Ambrose and Vienna Langerak, and Klaribel Huizenga.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at the Randolph Protestant Reformed Church on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 am, officiated by Rev. Richard Smit. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow at the Friesland Cemetery.
