Shirley Ann Wendt

Shirley Ann Wendt, age 81, of Waupun, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

Shirley was born the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy (Sauer) Zills. She was a graduate of Oakfield High School, class of 1963. On May 20, 1967, she married Michael Wendt at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun, Wisconsin.

Shirley was employed at Lauer's/Market Fresh grocery store for more than 30 years. She dedicated many years of her life to her work and was a familiar presence there to those who knew her. After her grandchildren were born, she spent her time babysitting them and enjoyed being with them, creating special memories through the everyday moments they shared. Above all else, her family meant the world to her, and the love she had for them was at the center of her life.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Michael “Mick” Wendt; daughter, Jodi (Michael) Asmus; granddaughters, Elizabeth Asmus and Brianna (Carter) Ter Beest; great grandson, Tripp Ter Beest; siblings, Sharon (Wolf) Semrau and Lee (Carol) Zills; son-in-law, Greg Asmus; and sister-in-law, Barb Zills. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Asmus; parents; and brother, Arlan Zills.
